Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) is a clump-forming, warm-season grass with purple stigmas at flowering time and open, lacy sprays with small seeds from Aug-Oct. Bright green, curly blades occur up and down the stem, turning bright yellow in fall. The yellow lingers throughout the winter.
