We Have A Plant for That Podcast
We Have a Plant for That is a new podcast venture from Rochester Pollinator and Marilyn Trent blending education with compelling storytelling to inspire ecological action. The show fills a gap in accessible, local environmental media by spotlighting the power of small acts—whether planting a single milkweed or a native garden, to restoring a neglected public space, or to learn how to use your voice to make changes in public policy.
Over the past six years, Marilyn Trent, founder of Rochester Pollinators and her team of volunteers, have talked to several thousand people—at presentations and networking and tabling events—who have shared stories of the joy, success, and transformation they’ve experienced by replacing lawns and non-native landscaping with native plants. These stories made Marilyn think that collective action can make lasting change and needed to be shared.
Many of those inspired have taken the next step—joining Wild Ones chapters, by talking to and encouraging friends and neighbors to make more ecologically sound choices, and even talking to their local legislators. Teachers, garden clubs, and even city council members have reached out to learn how to bring native plantings and pollinator habitats into their own communities.
While rooted in southeast Michigan, We Have a Plant for That, will explore rewilding stories from across the country and around the world, sharing their ideas and strategies that reconnect people with nature.
Each episode features changemakers—backyard gardeners, and grassroots advocates—who are transforming their communities one yard, one park, and one policy at a time. Whether you have a garden, a container pot, or just a passion for wild things, We Have a Plant for That will leave you inspired to take meaningful action for pollinators, biodiversity, and the planet.
